AB 673 (Chu) Public transit operators: vehicle safety requirements.
Before a new bus in placed into operation, the transit agency must take into consideration recommendations of a representative of the transit operators to protect against the risk of assault by removing blind spots. Operators must also ensure that a new bus is equipped with features, such partition enclosures around the bus operator seating are capable of withstanding gun fire and other measure that assure safe egress and adequate visibility. These standards must comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
